The old parish
church of Florence deserves a visit for its frescoes
by Ghirlandaio and Botticelli. In Ghirlandaio's fresco
Madonna della Misericordia you can see the portrait
of Amerigo Vespucci, the man who gave the name to the
American continent.
The church is
also the burial place of Botticelli. His fresco of St
Augustine is on the south wall.
 This
famous fresco "The Last Supper" by Ghirlandaio
is located in the refectory near the cloister.
