Strozzi
Palace
The first stone of
the Palace was laid in 1489 at the order of Filippo
Strozzi, who was considered "the richest man in
the world" and a friend of Lorenzo the Magnificent.
And
so it happened that thanks to the spending of hundreds
of thousands of florins (money of the time) and to the
unusual use of stones that cover the whole facade of
this elegant building, a masterpiece of the 15th
century Florentine architecture was created.

Strozzi
died in 1491, just two years after the first stone was
laid. It was twenty-five years later, in 1504, which
the Strozzi family finally moved into the palace. In
1913 the palace was bequeathed to the State.sculptures, among them works by Ghirlandaio, Fillippino
Lippi and Orcagna.
