Royal
Palace-Capodimonte Museums
On the hill of the same name are the beautiful
Royal Palace and the Park. The architect Antonio Medrano
built the Royal Palace as a hunting lodge for the king
Charles III of Bourbon in 1743.
The
pre-existent wood was arranged as a park with rare and
exotic plants creating a splendid landscape and garden.
Strolling in the park you can visit the Villa of the
Princes, the famous Porcelain factory, the curious Chapel
of San Gennaro, the Cottage of the Queen and the Capuchin
monastery.
The
magnificent Royal Palace houses now The National Gallery
of Naples with the splendid Farnese collection that
together with various other collections give an overview
of Italian and European art, including works by Titian,
Botticelli, Perugino, Raphael and Caravaggio.
