Glory of Cimarosa,
Bellini, Donizzetti, Rossini. Naples is full of theaters,
built during the 18th. Century and the San Carlo Theater
just in front the Gallery Umberto is not only the largest
theater in Naples but in Italy as well and one of the
finest in the world.
The theater was commissioned
by Charles of Bourbon and built in just eight months
by Antonio Medrano in 1737.
The interior glitters with gold and red.
With 185 boxes in six tiers, the huge stage (640 squares
feet), the luxurious golden curtain supported by two
winged victories around the Royal Box and the vault
painted by Cammarano, the theater has been for two centuries
