COLOSSEUM - ROME, ITALY

Colosseum

Commissioned by Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD the Colosseum is the most impressive and majestic amphitheater of Roman times.

To celebrate its grand inauguration, over 5000 animals were sacrificed. Until 523 AD fights, between gladiators and wild beasts were held periodically.

The Roman gladiators were originally soldiers in training, their combats became a sport, later slaves and prisoners of war or criminals were forced to fight in the arena.

You'll leave with fond memories that will last a life time.
