Rest on the flight into Egypt: By Caravaggio
- 1594/1596 (Shown above)
The artist is
still far from the tragic mood of his maturity. The
diffused light, landscape and the elegant Angel playing
the violin, give us a very quite rural atmosphere.
Flight
into Egypt: By Annibale Carracci - 1604
The landscape
is the absolute protagonist in this picture and in general
in all of his paintings. The artist reveals a personal
sensitiveness and a particular attention to the nature
that makes him one of the greatest reformers in the
history of painting.
